Emerging Intracellular Electrical Phenomena: Implications for Paradigm Shifts in Biological Chemistry Research

Image
Summary of the article  The human body depends on electrical charges for many biological processes, including brain activity and nerve impulses. Previously, it was believed that cellular membranes were necessary to create an electrical charge imbalance. However, recent research from Stanford University has shown that a similar electrical imbalance can exist between microdroplets of water and air. Now, researchers from Duke University have discovered that these types of electric fields also exist within and around biological condensates, a type of cellular structure. These structures form compartments inside the cell without needing the physical boundary of a membrane. The researchers discovered that when environmental conditions are right, a previously unknown phenomenon occurs in these biological condensates, which creates a redox reaction that produces tiny amounts of hydrogen peroxide. This discovery could change the way researchers think about biological chemistry and provide a clu

A new 6.4 magnitude earthquake strikes the Turkey-Syria border

Image
On Monday, another earthquake struck the Turkish-Syrian border region, just two weeks after a larger quake devastated the area, killing over 47,000 people and damaging or destroying hundreds of thousands of homes. Monday's 6.4-magnitude earthquake was centered near the southern Turkish city of Antakya and was felt in Syria, Egypt, and Lebanon. After this major earthquake there have been 26 minor aftershocks experienced. According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), it struck at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). Hatay Mayor Lutfu Savas noted that he had received reports of people trapped under rubble following the latest earthquake. According to Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, there were three fatalities and over 200 injuries. Residents in Samandag reported more houses collapsing but the majority of the population had already fled following the initial tremors, according to the country's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority AFAD, which recorded one

Liver and liver detoxification

Image
After a night of excessive drinking or a period of poor eating, it's common to hear people say they want to detox their liver. There are a variety of products on the market that guarantee you'll have a healthy liver in no time. However, how secure and reliable are liver detoxes? The liver is the body's largest internal organ in the human body  located in the upper right-hand portion of the abdominal cavity, beneath the diaphragm, and on top of the stomach, right kidney, and intestines. Shaped like a cone, the liver is a dark reddish-brown organ, weighing on average 3 pounds in an adult. Over 500 important processes are carried out by the human liver which makes it one of the most important organ in the body. The liver produces bile to help in the breakdown and absorption of ingested lipids. Additionally, bile enables the digestion of vitamin K from dietary lipids. The liver also serves as our body's main blood filter, removing toxins, waste products, and other dangerou

What smoking does to your heart?

Image
Follow @OmEnigma    Smoking is the leading cause of deaths worldwide. The number of death caused by smoking alone is more than the total deaths caused HIV, illegal drug activity, alcohol intake, automobile injuries, and events involving firearms combined.  Smoking puts more than 7000 different chemicals into the body of which more than 250 are deadly and more than 60 can cause cancer. Some of these toxic chemicals includes carcinogens  (Acetaldehyde,Aromatic, amines,Arsenic,Benzene,Beryllium ,1,3–Butadiene etc.), Toxic metals(Arsenic, cadmium), Radioactive metals(lead, polonium) and certain poisons like carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide, ammonia compounds and nicotine. Inhalation of these harmful chemicals are capable enough to destroy any part of the body. Though most of the times smoking is linked with the damage of the lungs and it's the fact that smoking does most effect to the lungs but it's effects to the heart and entire cardiovascular system are even more shocking. The

Synthetic embryo with brain and beating heart created without sperm and egg

Image
In case of totipotent plant cells it is possible for the single cell to give rise to the entire plant. This thing was experimentally done in plants and is in practice since the early 20s, but in case of animals an egg from the maternal side and sperm from the parental side are required for the formation a new one. But recently the scientists in the university of Cambridge have created the embryo of the mouse with a brain and the beating heart, well to create the embryo isn't the great accomplishment but the achievement is that this embryo is created from the stem cells only without the involvement of the sperm or egg. This represents a fresh way to recreate the beginnings of life. Stem cells which are often considered as the raw materials of the body cuz from these cells all the cells in the body involved with any systems with specialized functions are generated. Professor Magdalena Zernicka-Goetz with his co workers used this special cells to develop the embryonic model instead

Back pain and good body posture

Image
Follow @OmEnigma B ack pain is one of the most common cause of disability worldwide. It is a common complaint that most people have at some point in their lives. It frequently first appears throughout adolescence and grows more prevalent as people age. Back pain can become persistent, incapacitating, and distressing for 25% of persons who experience it. It may limit a person's capacity to engage in daily tasks, physical activity, and employment. Back discomfort is frequently made worse by actions including sitting, standing, bending, and lifting. It's a widely held concept that maintaining "excellent" posture is crucial for both preventing and treating back pain as well as shielding the spine from harm. It's a widely held concept that maintaining "good" posture is crucial for both preventing and treating back pain as well as shielding the spine from harm. A common definition of good posture is sitting "upright," standing "tall and aligne

BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS:- A threat to mankind

Follow @OmEnigma The current covid breakdown that killed the large population worldwide, then the monkeypox outbreak, Langya virus outbreak in China and then the current reoccurrence of polio in UK and US. Most researchers and scientists believe that the biological warfare has already been started. China's race to be the world largest economy, America's deed to control the world, dispute between Ukraine and Russia, border disputes between China ,India and Pakistan, geopolitical tension between China and USA and the war between very advanced warfare of Israel and Palestine has made the world more vulnerable towards the nuclear war and the biological war. And here's the article on the biological war , it's history and consequences to the mankind. To know more about the nuclear war , click here   The employment of biological poisons or infectious agents like bacteria, viruses, insects, and fungus with the intention of killing, harming, or incapacitating humans, animals,

Air pollution and its health consequences

Image
Follow @OmEnigma  Air pollution is the changing of the natural features of the atmosphere by any chemical, physical, or biological factor in either the indoor or outdoor environment. These chemical, physical or the biological ingredients responsible for the change in natural quality of air are air pollutants. Common causes of air pollutants include smoke from motor vehicles, industrial operations, household combustion appliances, and forest fires. Particulate matter, carbon monoxide, ozone, nitrogen dioxide, and sulfur dioxide are pollutants of great public health concern. Indoor and outdoor air pollution are significant contributors to morbidity and mortality because they cause respiratory and other illnesses. Multiple and situation-specific sources contribute to air pollution. Residential energy use for heating and cooking, transportation, power production, agriculture/waste incineration, and industry are the main causes of outdoor pollution. Key sources of ambient air pollution ca

Mensuration health and rights

Follow @OmEnigma To  Read another article on Menstrual cramps and possible home cures to reduce the pain click here   Mensuration is a natural phenomena and every women of fertile age group goes through this process. During menstruation, the uterine lining sheds and turns into blood. This blood leaves the body through the vagina. It also goes by the name "period." Periods often last three to seven days. A menstrual person bleeds from the vagina during this time. Other symptoms, such cramps, could also be present. Having a period indicates that a person is not pregnant because menstruation stops when a woman is pregnant. It also signals the start of a fresh menstrual cycle. From their teen years until menopause, when periods stop, this reproductive cycle affects the majority of females. In connection to the menstrual cycle, menstrual health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and mearly the absence of illness or infirmity. In order to achieve mens

Follow @OmEnigma  The COVID-19 pandemic, which is believed to have contributed to an additional 4.5 million fatalities in that year, was first reported in 2020, according to the World Health Organization's most recent comprehensive set of global health statistics. The numbers show the extent to which the epidemic has been hurting health systems globally, drastically limiting access to some essential services in some instances. The advancements made in the first 20 years of the century in terms of both life expectancy and healthy life expectancy are expected to be reversed as a result of these disturbances. Globally, the average age at birth rose from 66.8 years in 2000 to 73.3 years in 2019, and the average age at death rose from 58.3 years to 63.7 years for healthy people. Gains in maternal and child health as well as significant investments in and advancements in programs for communicable diseases like HIV, TB, and malaria were major contributors to this. However, the data fro
